The dissolved mercury analyzer measures with precision the mercury content in the applications below:
- Effluent quality control in alkaline-chlorinated environment,
- Monitoring of washing water from incinerators or energy systems,
- Control of wastewater from industrial or processing plants,
- Drinking water quality control.
PERFORMANCES
The analytic method à known as cold-vapor method à shows a very high sensitivity and selectivity. In contrast with the atomic fluorescence method (sometimes recommended), the method used by the PA-1 analyzer is not exposed to interferences. Moreover, it does not require any amalgamation phase, nor expensive vector gases.
OPERATING PRINCIPLE
The mercury content in the sample is determined through a spectrophotometric method. First, the mercury is reduced to elemental form by tin (II) chloride or NaBH4. The mercury is then dissociated from the aqueous phase by air current and sent to the optical cell. The UV absorption is measured at a 253.7- nm wavelength.
ERGONOMICS
The PA-1 is a fully automatic system that uses the known UF absorption detection method. This analyzer analyzes complex sampling compositions with a low quantity of reagents. It has also an anomaly self-diagnosis function. It was designed to resist to corrosion.
